Dusit Zoo – Bangkok

ImageComing across Dusit Zoo was like a tropical oasis on a hot and sticky day in  Bangkok in July 2012.

The entrance fee was a nominal 100 BaHt (although there are other fees for different areas)

Dusit Zoo was established under the Bangkok Municipality on 18th March 1938, prior to that it was Dusit Royal Gardens in the time of King Rama V (King Chulalongkom).

I was delighted to see exotic animals that I had only ever read about before, Brow-Antlered Deer, Fea’s Muntjac, Albino Common Barking Deer, Albino Siamese Soft Shelled Turtle and a Malayan Tapir.

A highlight was a 4D movie where I rode on the back of a TRex!

Dusit Zoo has been going for 72 years.

The 47 acres house over 2000 Thai and exotic animals with roughly 2 million visitors a year.

An enjoyable outing and worth a visit!
