Muscat during Ramadan

Taking an early morning stroll on the beachfront of

Al Azaiba, Muscat was peaceful, serene and inspiring.

I especially liked hearing the fishermen starting

their boat engines as they prepare for the early morning

‘catch of the day’ and it reminded me of

two lovely books that I read many

years ago which left an impact on me.

The first was John Steinbeck’s ‘The Pearl‘,

a thought-provoking story and the

second Ernest Hemingway’s

‘An Old Man and the Sea’ of an old

seasoned fisherman struggling against

defeat and the greatest catch of his life.

Both I highly recommend.

  1. I remember the many walks along that stretch of beach. The many sea shells that were collected and some fabulous fishing.
